Everybody’s body reacts differently to various substances. Some reactions are antigen-specific, while others occur simply because your skin is very sensitive to certain ingredients. Since there are countless materials in the world, no one can predict exactly which ingredients your body will react to.
I started from this point because no matter which facial lotion I tried, I still felt a stinging sensation, and redness on my skin never fully disappeared. When I looked closely at cosmetic ingredient lists, I realized that many products contained dozens of ingredients. It’s impossible to know which one is irritating my skin—or if a combination of two or three otherwise safe ingredients causes the reaction.
So, I decided to start from scratch. Instead of removing ingredients one by one, I began by building a product from the ground up, using only the minimum essential ingredients. The ingredients I chose are ones that humans have safely used as food for centuries and are generally considered safe for most people: water, coconut oil, olive oil, honey, glycerol, and a few others.
To turn these ingredients into stable cosmetic products, I added only the minimum necessary plant-derived emulsifying and paraben-free preservation system. This is how Dr. Park Skincare was born. Each product contains fewer than ten ingredients, minimizing the potential for irritation. Whenever possible, I selected certified organic-grade ingredients.
These are products I personally use—and so do my wife everyday. That’s the essence of a minimum formula: skincare designed to reduce the risk of irritation while providing essential care, nothing more, nothing less.
